A STUDY ON ECONOMIC PROSPEROUS CONDITIONS FOR ARAKU COFFEE EXPORTING SYSTEM IN INDIA

Abstract

As one of the world's most important agricultural commodities, coffee is grown in abundance in the Indian state of Karnataka. Chikamagaluru is known as the land of coffee but clean Arabica coffee beans organically grown in Araku by tribes. The Araku coffee had commanded a premium over Arabica coffee from across India. 1000’s of tribal farmers harvest coffee beans which are pooled by GCC and Processed. The establishment cost of Araku valley coffee in Visakhapatnam district was 144,039.06 /hectare which encompassed for the initial investment cost and maintenance cost during coffee gestation period. More than 70% of the nation practice is exposed. India is the 8th largest volume exporter of coffee. Climate change is significantly impacting coffee production in India.  This study examines the economic conditions fostering the prosperity of the Araku coffee exporting system in India. Araku coffee, renowned for its unique flavor and sustainable cultivation practices, has gained international recognition, contributing to the economic upliftment of the tribal communities in the Araku Valley. The research focuses on identifying key factors such as market accessibility, quality control, branding strategies, and government policies that influence the export success of Araku coffee. Through a mixed-methods approach involving quantitative data analysis and qualitative interviews with stakeholders, the study highlights the role of cooperative farming, organic certification, and fair trade practices in enhancing the economic viability of Araku coffee exports. The findings suggest that a holistic approach encompassing improved infrastructure, targeted marketing, and continuous support for farmers can significantly boost the global presence and profitability of Araku coffee. The study concludes with recommendations for policymakers and industry stakeholders to sustain and further develop the Araku coffee exporting system, ensuring long-term economic benefits for the region.
